They're pretty "invisible" compared to the ones with strings. I put together a doll with a zip tie, so can explain it.

What they do is, instead of stringing string through, they string a zip-tie (cable-tie; you can see one by visiting a hardware store and asking to see them. The ones used for dolls are sometimes narrower, though). Then, after completely pulling it as tightly as possible, the end is snipped off, mesh with the place where it's tightened.

The dolls themselves look the same from the back, but instead there is a zip-tie holding the head on. It won't necessarily show up very well in a photo.

By the way, I looked at Kit to see if I could take a photo of it for you. Then I noticed my Kit has strings! And all this time I've been thinking and posting otherwise.

I think one of Marisol's dance outfits has a low back to it and I bet it would look so much better if there weren't any strings in the way. But, I think I prefer having the strings so I can easily take heads on and off if needed.
